| In 1982, after completing
the third grade of Moscow Pedagogical University
we were directed to the village to harvest
potatoes (it was a common practice, since the
communist's way to do agriculture was extremely
ineffective). We were accommodated inside of the
big barrack in the village near the Vereya town
in Moscow area. We had a pretty nice time,
though. Funny time. At least during the first
month, while we were willing to
work. |
|
The old, partially ruined church. Its architecture
is somewhat surprising for the middle Russia: the influence of the Catholic
temple and even something Moslem is felt. |
Just an idyllic rural scene. |
Our barracks are seen behind the potatoes field.
Towards the end of the first month living and working
here we were really bored. No one had money to buy
alcohol at this time and in the barracks who knows what
was going on! You couldn't imagine what our guys were
drinking... To complete the picture a cow died
right in the front of our barrack and was staying there
for three days because no people wanted to take it
away. |
